Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of medicine and was developed in the East, long before our Western system.

Acupuncture works on the natural pain relieving and energy systems in the body, locating and clearing blockages that cause imbalance and illness. It helps stimulate the body to heal itself. .

Many people are apprehensive about acupuncture needles but they are as fine as a hair and do not penetrate far into the body.

Sometimes just a slight pricking sensation or tingling can be felt but generally they are left in for only a few seconds, depending on the treatment.

All needles are sterile and used only once.

Most patients try acupuncture when they feel or have been told that conventional medicine can no longer help their condition. Often they are referred to us by doctors.

Acupuncture can help most medical conditions, especially in the first stages of ill-health and is particularly useful for children as there is no medicine, therefore no side-effects.

Acupuncture can help prevent illness and maintain well-being in healthy people. A change of season can lower our energy levels so ‘rebalancing’ can be very effective.

Your first treatment includes your health assessment and usually lasts 1 – 2 hours. Further treatments are normally just 45 minutes.

Your health is assessed by talking about yourself, how you feel and taking the 12 pulses in the wrist, which correspond to the main organs in the body. This will determine your treatment, the number of which will depend on your symptoms and general health and how your natural healing processes respond.

If you are being treated by a doctor, they should be informed that you are having treatment.
